Its been a while since I have seen the beauty of Los Baños, Laguna. Actually, upon knowing that we will have our field trip in Laguna, I’m hesitant to joined the group. Because the last time that I went there is when I’m a College Student and that was the 3rd time I visited UP Los Baños. The day of the field trip came and I myself was not so sure if I will be satisfied with our field trip. But I’m happy to say that I felt blessed  to see for the first time the Open University of UP. Well, the building is so small on the outside and looks great on the inside. 

Using of open source web-based application is the main focus of our field trip. In my open opinion, the open source web-based application are more useful because it has an interactive interface and it can be use to different browsers. I’m also thankful that there is a paper that has been distributed to us, to give an overview, comparison with traditional software, uses and benefits. One example of this web application is the moodle. MOODLE stands for Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment. You can search this URL http://myportal.upou.edu.ph/ to see the interface that the Open University of UP has been using.

Seeing the things involved with distance education in terms of using information communications technology, it made me realize that it is hard for the professor to prepare a lesson and keep up to date with the regular posting of his students. Its much more harder than the traditional classroom setting, because here anyone from other parts of the world can be your students.

The best part of our field trip is the lunch and pasalubong time. Lunch time, is where I have the chance to bond to all of my classmates in LIS 260. Because most of the time, I mingle with those who are also my classmates in LIS 253. It was my first time to taste a “ginataang suso,” and I’ve never regret to eat it because it taste delicious. Pasalubong time is when I got a chance to see the places where we can buy the best buko pie and chocolate in town. But most all, the most known of all is the “RAMBUTAN” has been bought by my classmates.

Oops !!! Before I forgot we also passed by the PCC Dairy Corner to buy dairy products.

But to end our field trip, we passed by the Shrine.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our professor for imparting to us her knowledge.

Actually at first, I’m overwhelmed with the environment here because its much more different from University of Santo Tomas, but as I remembered the things we have done here, I can say that I have learned a lot. And this won’t be possible without you guys and Ma’am Sharon. Again, Thanks to all of you!!!
