Critique on the use of web-based information retrieval system

Information being presented in the market nowadays is of different formats. Of all the formats, the information presented on the internet is the best seller with this generation. Why is that so? Its because internet is easily accessible all the time anywhere and free. You don’t even need to bother going to your respective libraries to look for the information that you need. What you is need is a computer that is connected through the internet. And one click of the mouse all of the things you need are presented in the screen of the computer. You may have even an option to present it the way you like it without using liquid eraser, glue, etc with them. But with its advantages of having an access with the internet. A lot of problems arise with it. One of these is the issue of copyright and plagiarism. Because information can be access in the soft copy most of the students have the tendency to copy from the internet and paste to a Ms Word their assignments. They don’t even bother reading most of their of assignments. Another thing is the parental control over the websites; most of our students can easily access the pornographic websites. Nowadays students prefer using internet most of the time. The only thing we can do to help them is to inform them the sites that may give them authoritative information and giving them the netiquette that should be observed.
