Abstract of the article:

Nowadays, features of the Web are getting hotter and hotter. Hotter in a sense that there is an interactivity. It has been called the “Web 2.0″ and its newborn babies are Library 2.0 and Librarian 2.0. The articles give a well defined meaning of the Web 2.0, Library 2.0 and Librarian 2.0. It also delve on the foundations of Web 2.0 and the things a Librarian 2.0 must do.

3 things I learned from my Reading Assignment

User-centered has been the goal of every field of human endeavor. Teachers, as well used strategies so that the discussion will be more student centered. The things I learned are:

  • Web 1.0 is a paradigm of Web sites, email, search engines and surfing while Web 2.0 is about the more human aspects of interactivity.
  • Web 2.0 technologies such as synchronous messaging and streaming media, etc, changes in how libraries provide access to their collection.
  • Most important of all, Librarian 2.0 must understand his or her users at a deep level.

Implications of the new things I learned to my work/ to me as a person:

As an information specialist, we should be updated with the latest trends. Using Web 2.0 in our libraries, will be a great help in meeting the needs of our clients.  Knowing the technologies offered by Web 2.0 and exploring them, is a must for me. Practice makes perfect. Through this, I can enhance my skills in using them in my line of work.
